Lead System Verification Engineer

Job description


The Lead System Verification Engineer is responsible for working with the software development teams on a variety of development projects, including embedded real-time software development using compilers, linkers, microcontrollers, and related tools. The Engineer will develop and implement quality assurance standards and measures for the Information System services within the organization, and will gain exposure to the aerospace industry, avionics systems design and Transport Canada regulatory compliance issues.

A typical day includes:

• Create and execute test plans and scripts that will ensure applications meet business requirements, system goals, and fulfill end-user requirements

• Review and recommend revisions to quality assurance measures and standards as needed

• Determine the primary components and subsystems and analyze technical trade-offs

• Work with portfolio stakeholders, customers, Enterprise Architects, System Engineers and development teams to align the architectural direction and definition of technical customer solutions

• Establish incremental implementation strategy and technical foundation for the architectural runway

• Abstraction and generalization to preserve architectural flexibility

• Drive support teams to troubleshoot commercial solution issues, propose workarounds, work with R&D to provide the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to the customer

• Ensure that common technology, design practices, and infrastructure are used when applicable; and facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns

• Influence common modeling, design, and coding practices

Job requirements


• Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities

• Solid project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures

• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• College diploma or university degree in Engineering program (Electrical/Computer/Software), Computer Science or related subject

• Preference will be given to candidates with SW Testing Automation experience 

• 5 - 7 years SATCOM/ICT/Avionic experience

• Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing

• Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies

• Understanding of Hardware and Software architecture

• Experience on system engineering project life cycles:  identify technical solutions to address customer requirements with details to design /deploy / consult with customer  infrastructure/solutions

• System & solution architecture experience is an asset

• SATCOM, 4G/LTE/5G and/or broadband knowledge is in asset
