Systems Engineer

Job description


Based in Ottawa and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of avionics hardware.

A typical day includes:

• Work with hardware engineers, embedded software engineers and Transport Canada delegates to develop and verify designs for new avionics products

• Maintenance of existing product designs, including feature enhancements and component obsolescence

• Creation of documentation to support design capture, production and certification activities

• Progress reports against key project deliverables

• Providing input to project scheduling and budgeting estimates

• Change impact analysis for regulatory compliance

• Ensuring compliance with development processes and standards

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline

• Minimum of 5 years of systems experience

• Professional Engineer Designation or Eligibility (EIT)

• Strong knowledge and experience in the development and bench test of hardware and embedded software systems, product development, generation of drawing packages, testing, validation, and design for manufacturing

• Certification experience including FCC/IC/CE , RTCA/DO-160G, DO-254, AS9100D, TC airworthiness delegation and/or eligibility

• Iridium modem, antenna or transceiver design experience

• System skills including wiring diagrams, linear and non-linear systems logic, communication systems and APIs, data collection and analysis

• BONUS: project management experience, hardware design experience, software design experience
